How To Meet Girls Nerf Herder (Honest Don's/Shock) BYLINE: DAVID FLAHERTY EDITION: 1
YOU may have already heard music by the Californian nerd-pop outfit Nerf Herder.
The geeky four-piece performs the rockin' theme music to the cult television show Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The band's infectious, high-energy brand of pop is a clever blend of the southern Californian punk of the Descendants and a strange retro-pop/new wave combination somewhere between the sound of Weezer and Devo.
Nerf Herder's first single release from the How To Meet Girls album, Courtney, a warped piece of pop-punk wizardry paying tribute to Courtney Love, is enjoying consistent airplay on Triple J as a novelty song. But
to dismiss Nerf Herder as a one-hit novelty act would be a mistake. Highlights of this incredible release include Jonathan, featuring the lyric ``Please God don't let me end up like Jonathan Richman'' , and the
anthemic love song about heavy metal, Pantera Fans In Love.
